About LCD Soundsystem
LCD Soundsystem is an American dance-punk revival band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. The band includes Murphy (vocals, various instruments), Nancy Whang (synthesizer, keyboards, vocals), Pat Mahoney (drums), Tyler Pope (bass, guitar, synthesizer), Al Doyle (guitar, synthesizer, percussion), and Korey Richey (synthesizer, piano, percussion). They signed to DFA Records from their inception and also signed to Columbia Records in 2016. The band began releasing multiple singles between 2002 and 2004, with 'Losing My Edge' being one of their signature songs. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2005, receiving critical acclaim and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album. Their song 'Daft Punk Is Playing at My House' became their most commercially successful single and received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. In 2007, they released their second album, Sound of Silver, which also garnered critical praise and a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic/Dance Album. The band recorded and released '45:33', a forty-five-minute composition created as a workout track for Nike's Nike+ Original Run series.
LCD Soundsystem have added shows to their 2026 tour, including four nights in Boston.
