NCT Dream is a South Korean boy band formed by SM Entertainment in 2016 as the third sub-unit of NCT. The group was initially conceived as a teenage unit with an admission-and-graduation system, where members would leave upon reaching the age of majority, before rebranding in 2020 to operate as a fixed seven-member group. The debut single 'Chewing Gum' was released on August 25, 2016, featuring seven members: Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung, with an average age of 15.6 years. In late 2018, Mark graduated from NCT Dream but returned in 2020 when the group began promoting as a permanent lineup. Mark departed from the group again on April 8, 2026. Their 2019 extended play (EP) 'We Boom' achieved significant commercial success, ranking among the top 10 physical album sellers domestically and earning Bonsang awards at the 34th Golden Disc Awards and the 2020 Seoul Music Awards. Their fourth Korean-language EP, 'Reload' (2020), was their second release as a sextet and garnered over half a million pre-orders.
