About Pete Tong
Peter Michael Tong, born on 30 July 1960, is an English DJ and record producer. He works for BBC Radio 1, hosting programmes such as Essential Mix and Essential Selection. His broadcasts are available through Internet radio streams. Tong has been involved with FFRR Records, his own record label, and performs at nightclubs and music festivals. He is regarded as a prominent figure in electronic music. The phrase "It's all gone Pete Tong," used as rhyming slang for "it's all gone wrong," was reportedly coined by Paul Oakenfold in 1987 in an article about acid house. The phrase is also the title of a 2004 film that depicts a fictional DJ's experience with deafness; Tong appears briefly in the film. Additionally, Tong has adopted the name for his club night at Pacha in Ibiza and for his nightly radio programme in the United States on iHeartRadio's "Evolution" EDM platform.
