About Primal Scream

Primal Scream are a Scottish rock band formed in 1982 in Glasgow by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie. The band’s current lineup includes Gillespie, Andrew Innes, and Darrin Mooney. They performed live from 1982 to 1984, but their career gained prominence after Gillespie left his role as drummer for The Jesus and Mary Chain. Initially associated with the mid-1980s indie pop scene, the band shifted away from their jangly sound, adopting psychedelic and garage rock influences. Their 1991 album Screamadelica incorporated dance music elements and achieved mainstream success. The band continued to experiment with various styles, including blues, trip hop, and industrial rock. Their most recent album, Come Ahead, was released on 8 November 2024.
