Alexander James O'Connor, known professionally as Rex Orange County, is a British singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Grayshott, England. His music has been described as a blend of hip-hop, jazz, and bedroom pop. O'Connor taught himself to produce his own music at age 16 and released his debut album, Bcos U Will Never B Free, in 2015 on Bandcamp and SoundCloud. He released several solo singles in 2016 and 2017, including the Platinum-certified tracks 'Sunflower' and 'Best Friend', and his second album, Apricot Princess, in 2017. Collaborations with Tyler, the Creator on two songs from the album Flower Boy contributed to O'Connor's increased prominence and led to a contract with RCA Records. His third album, Pony, released in 2019, featured more personal lyrics and genre experimentation, and became his first to enter the Billboard 200, reaching number 3. His fourth studio album, Who Cares?, released in 2022, topped the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200. In late 2024, he released his fifth album, The Alexander Technique.
