About Squeeze
Squeeze are an English rock band formed in Deptford, London, in 1974. The band gained prominence in the United Kingdom during the late 1970s new wave period, with singles such as 'Cool for Cats', 'Up the Junction', and 'Labelled with Love' reaching the top ten on the UK charts. They also achieved success in the United States with songs like 'Tempted', 'Black Coffee in Bed', and 'Hourglass', and were associated with the Second British Invasion. The core members, guitarist and vocalist Glenn Tilbrook and lyricist and guitarist Chris Difford, collaborated extensively, with lyrics typically written by Difford and music by Tilbrook. During their initial period of activity, they were described as "the heirs to Lennon and McCartney's throne." The band disbanded in 1982, reformed in 1985, and disbanded again in 1999. Members Jools Holland and Paul Carrack, keyboard players in the band, went on to have successful careers. Squeeze reunited for tours in the United States and United Kingdom in 2007.
