About Taking Back Sunday
Taking Back Sunday is an American rock band formed in Amityville, New York, in late 1999 by guitarist Eddie Reyes and bassist Jesse Lacey. The band’s current lineup includes lead vocalist Adam Lazzara, lead guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist John Nolan, and bassist Shaun Cooper. Live performances feature guitarist Nathan Cogan and drummer Mitchell Register. Former members include original singer Antonio Longo, Jesse Lacey, Eddie Reyes, drummer Mark O’Connell, bassist Matthew Rubano, and guitarist-vocalists Fred Mascherino and Matthew Fazzi. Jesse Lacey left the band in 1999 and subsequently formed the band Brand New in 2000, with whom Taking Back Sunday was involved in a publicized feud. Adam Lazzara joined before the release of the band’s debut album, 'Tell All Your Friends,' in 2002. Nolan and Cooper left in 2003 to form Straylight Run, returning to Taking Back Sunday in 2010. The band’s 2006 album, 'Louder Now,' included the single 'MakeDamnSure,' sold over 900,000 copies, and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, surpassing their 2004 peak of No. 3 with 'Where You Want to Be.' Their eighth studio album, '152,' was released in 2023.
