About The Darkness
The Darkness are a British hard rock band formed in Lowestoft in 2000. The band includes Justin Hawkins (vocals, guitar), Dan Hawkins (guitar), Frankie Poullain (bass), and Rufus Tiger Taylor (drums). Their debut album, Permission to Land, was released in 2003 and included singles such as "I Believe in a Thing Called Love," "Growing on Me," "Get Your Hands off My Woman," and "Love Is Only a Feeling." The album was certified quadruple platinum in the United Kingdom, with over 1.3 million sales. In 2004, the band won three Brit Awards: Best British Group, Best British Rock Act, and Best British Album. Poullain left the band in 2005 and was replaced by Richie Edwards. Their second album, One Way Ticket to Hell... and Back, was released in November 2005. In 2006, Justin Hawkins left the band after completing rehabilitation for alcohol and cocaine abuse. The band experienced a decline in commercial success following the album's poor sales and was dropped by Atlantic Records in October 2006.
From unexpected outsiders to rock veterans, The Darkness channel two decades of experience into their most honest album yet.
