About Thom Yorke
Thomas Edward Yorke, born on 7 October 1968, is an English musician best known as the singer and main songwriter of the band Radiohead. He plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and other instruments, and is recognized for his falsetto singing. Yorke formed Radiohead with schoolmates at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire. The band gained attention with their debut single, 'Creep,' released in 1992, and has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Early in his career, Yorke was influenced by alternative rock acts such as the Pixies and R.E.M. With Radiohead's fourth album, 'Kid A' (2000), he incorporated electronic music influences, notably from Warp artists like Aphex Twin. Throughout his career, he has frequently collaborated with producer Nigel Godrich and cover artist Stanley Donwood. Yorke's solo projects are primarily electronic in nature; his debut solo album, 'The Eraser,' was released in 2006. To perform this material live, he formed the band Atoms for Peace, which included musicians such as Nigel Godrich and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Atoms for Peace released the album 'Amok' in 2013.
Radiohead's frontman uses Academy Fellowship acceptance to attack streamers and major labels.
