Victoria Monét McCants, born on May 1, 1989, is an American singer-songwriter. She first gained recognition for her songwriting work and later pursued a recording career, releasing a series of extended plays, with her fifth EP, Jaguar (2020), receiving critical acclaim. Her debut studio album, Jaguar II (2023), marked her commercial breakthrough and included the single 'On My Mama,' which reached the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy Award nomination for Record of the Year. At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, she received seven nominations and won awards for Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. Monét became involved in performing arts at a young age and began her musical career in 2010. She performed briefly as part of a girl group formed by record producer Rodney Jerkins before focusing on songwriting. She collaborated frequently with Jerkins and D'Mile. Monét has co-written songs for each of Ariana Grande's studio albums from Yours Truly (2013) through Positions (2020).
