About Weezer
Weezer is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1992. Since 2001, the band has consisted of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Patrick Wilson (drums, backing vocals), Brian Bell (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Scott Shriner (bass, keyboards, backing vocals). They have sold 10 million albums in the United States and over 35 million worldwide. After signing to Geffen Records in 1993, Weezer released their self-titled debut album, also known as the Blue Album, in May 1994. The album included singles such as "Undone – The Sweater Song," "Buddy Holly," and "Say It Ain't So," and became a multi-platinum success. Their second album, Pinkerton (1996), featured a darker, more abrasive sound and was initially a commercial failure with mixed reviews, but later gained cult status and critical acclaim. Both albums are often regarded as among the best of the 1990s. Following the Pinkerton tour, bassist Matt Sharp left the band, leading to a hiatus. Weezer returned in 2001 with the Green Album, featuring new bassist Mikey Welsh.
