'Fork' opens 2 Chainz's second studio album 'B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time', released in September 2013. The track begins with a domestic skit, the rapper accusing his mother of lifting cash from his trousers overnight, before cutting to a chorus that frames the drug trade as fallback insurance against a failing rap career. 2 Chainz raps the hook himself: the dream that rap wouldn't work, waking up on the block to hit it with the fork, the onomatopoeic skrr-skrr mimicking the whisk of cocaine preparation. The verses toggle between absurdist boasts and trap-house pragmatism. Medusa sneakers, hundred-thousand-dollar features, codeine sips, and a Testarossa awaiting him in Costa Rica sit alongside the blunt assertion that his trap house remains his income, booming. The production, menacing and orchestral, carries hooks that lodge immediately. It is an ode to the trap, delivered with the unshakeable confidence of someone who has lived both sides of the insurance policy and refuses to apologise for either.
