About This Track

‘Dissidence’ by 404Billy is a Hip-Hop/Rap track from the album ‘Hostile’ (released in 2018). Set in a French-language, confrontational first-person voice, the lyrics sketch a night-time state of drink and defiance, framing death as a persistent presence and treating deathliness, guilt and criminal threat as everyday material. There are also sharp denunciations of authority and the music industry, with the narrator dismissing chart success and refusing offers, even as the writing leans into explicit references to violence.
