About This Track

Alma builds 'Karma' around a simple, devastating premise: a reckoning for someone who has played with her heart. The track moves through the wreckage of a relationship defined by lies, cold nights, and games played in the dark, before settling on a single, repeating threat. The chorus strips away nuance entirely. "I bring the karma, you better run, run, run, yeah" becomes a mantra of consequence, delivered with the kind of certainty that suggests she has already made peace with whatever comes next. The production sits somewhere between pop and dance, all bright surfaces and propulsive rhythm, which gives the lyrical content an interesting edge. There is no room for self-pity here; instead, Alma adopts a posture of resigned defiance, naming each betrayal and then moving past it. The hook lands hard because it promises nothing but inevitability. You hurt her. Now something will hurt you. It is not a threat so much as a statement of fact.

"Karma" is a track by ALMA, from the album Dye My Hair - EP, released 27th October 2016. The track is 3:19 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about ALMA.

Lyrics

Karma

I should've known from the start
You play reckless with my heart, heart
And now you wanna say goodbye-ye
So I'm gonna let you go
You still gonna pay for, though

For every night, you left me here on my own
For every reason I believed in, every lie that you told
For every fight, you left me out in the cold
For every reason, hey-yeah, hey-yeah

I bring the karma, you better run, run, run, yeah
It's coming your way (ooh-ooh-ah, ooh-ooh-ah)
I bring the karma, you better run, run, yeah
That bitch don't play (ooh-ooh-ah, ooh-ooh-ah)
I bring the karma to your game, you better run, run, run, yeah
It's coming your way
I bring the karma to your game, you better run, run, yeah
That bitch don't play (ooh-ooh-ah, ooh-ooh-ah)

Now you're breaking hearts in the dark, dark
You play your games with your cards, cards
You will taste your poison in the end
You should've let me go
'Cause now I'ma let you know

For every night, you left me here on my own
For every reason I believed in, every lie that you told
For every fight, you left me here on my own
For every reason, hey-yeah, hey-yeah

I bring the karma, you better run, run, run, yeah
It's coming your way (ooh-ooh-ah, ooh-ooh-ah)
I bring the karma, you better run, run, yeah
That bitch don't play (ooh-ooh-ah, ooh-ooh-ah)
I bring the karma to your game, you better run, run, run, yeah
It's coming your way
I bring the karma to your game, you better run, run, yeah
That bitch don't play (ooh-ooh-ah, ooh-ooh-ah)

(I bring the karma)
(It's coming your way, way)
(I bring the karma)
(It's coming your way, way)

I bring the karma to your game, you better run, run, run, yeah
It's coming your way (ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh)
I bring the karma to your game, your game, game
You better run, run, run, yeah, yeah, yeah

I bring the karma to your game, you better run, run, run, yeah
It's coming your way
(Oh yeah, oh yeah)
I bring the karma to your game
(You better, you better, you better) you better run, run, yeah
That bitch don't play (you better run, run, run, yeah, yeah)
