About This Track
Aurora built this track around clattering drum beats that build toward a euphoric chorus, layering synth-pop and electropop production across lyrics that pivot between fragmentation and yearning. The song cycles through images of brokenness, mornings, nights, days, people, before settling into its central plea: a search for someone who never arrives, a fantasy that offers only destruction rather than rescue. The chorus anchors itself in repetition and negation. "I've been looking for the conqueror / But you don't seem to come my way," Aurora sings, the phrase doubling back on itself across the track's arc. Against that absence, the final section shifts register entirely. "I feel alive" becomes a declaration that stands apart from the longing that precedes it, a moment of self-sufficiency that doesn't require the arrival of anyone else.
"Conqueror" is a single by AURORA, released 25th August 2016. The track is 3:28 long. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 16 articles about AURORA.
