About This Track

'React' by Bakar is a 2024 single that sets up a tense, accusatory standoff, with the lyric circling a demand for more emotional response. The speaker frames the relationship as conflict, repeating that “that’s why we’re at war” while describing communication breaking down into fractured silence. There is a sense of exhaustion in the lines about having nothing left to say, set against a broader claim that one side talks for show, rather than making anything happen. The overall tone is confrontational, frustrated, and slightly desperate to be heard.

"React" is a single by Bakar, released 3rd May 2024. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 5 articles about Bakar.

Lyrics

React

You just wish that I react more
That's why we're at war
There's nothin' left for me to say, I swear
You just talk 'cause you love action
That's why we're fractured
And nothing's happenin', it's hard for me, I swear

You just wish that I react more
That's why we're at war
There's nothin' left for me to say, I swear
You just talk 'cause you love action
That's why we're fractured
And nothing's happenin', it's hard for me, I swear

I had been livin' in darkness too long
I make you feel the bright side
By the end of the month, I'll be heartless
I used to be a nice guy, nice guy
Swear I feel better in the nighttime
Babe, you feel better with your white lies
Lead me on like I was the right guy, yeah-yeah

Tryna save my little heart from the mess
Hate the fact that you know my address
'Cause you're the same little, ugh, from the ends
Yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah
Yeah-yeah

You just wish that I react more
That's why we're at war
There's nothin' left for me to say, I swear
You just talk 'cause you love action
That's why we're fractured
And nothing's happenin', it's hard for me, I swear

You just wish that I react more
That's why we're at war
There's nothin' left for me to say, I swear
You just talk 'cause you love action
That's why we're fractured
And nothing's happenin', it's hard for me, I swear

Simmer down, simmer down, simmer down (ah)
Simmer down, simmer down, simmer down
