About This Track

'Grayscale' by Basement is an alternative track from the album 'I Wish I Could Stay Here' (2011). The lyrics dwell on change that will not be reversed, with vivid images of colour fading into grey and an implied private place where memories of “you and me” are kept as they once were. The repeated insistence on what cannot be made to look the same again gives the song a quietly devastating, reflective tone, captured in the sense that brightness is lost and left behind.

"Grayscale" is a track by Basement, from the album I Wish I Could Stay Here, released 4th July 2011. The track is 2:29 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 7 articles about Basement.

Lyrics

Grayscale

Pictures painted by your hands
Will never look the same again

These colours run
These colours fade
What once was bright
Has now turned to grey

There's a place in which I keep
Parts of you and me
As they were meant to be
As just a memory
