About This Track
'affection' captures the messy logic of two people using each other to dodge loneliness. Between Friends builds the track around a simple, repeating hook: the search for affection in all the wrong places, the mutual falling into empty spaces. It's a song about proximity masquerading as connection, about drinking because you're bored and bodies filling the gaps that conversation cannot. The lyrics move between accusation and complicity. One voice takes what it wants; the other offers no choices. They talk in their sleep, remember times that won't be remembered back. There's no resolution here, only the minor comfort of repetition, the mantra of "just a little bit" that suggests both hunger and resignation. The song knows exactly what it is: a temporary fix, a sequel to a story that never quite began.
