About This Track

A portrait of a Los Angeles archetype, '90210' sketches a figure consumed by the machinery of appearance. The title invokes the Beverly Hills postcode as shorthand for a lifestyle built on designer labels, scene-chasing, and the performance of wealth. blackbear frames the subject as unreachable, someone who 'can't be defined' or designed, yet remains trapped in cycles of consumption and visibility. The acoustic arrangement strips the production to reverb-laden guitar and spare percussion, letting the observational detail land cleanly. The narrator catalogs the surface markers whilst acknowledging his own complicity, admitting he falls for the pattern each time. The second half sharpens the focus: cigarettes and coffee, a maxed credit line, a dependency on the fix of being seen. The suggestion of intervention arrives too late; the party continues in the meantime, and the narrator knows he should walk away but cannot locate her in the blur of the postcode.
