Bladee moves through 'Doorman' with the detachment of someone who has learned to treat fame and its attendant paranoia as background noise. The track settles into a languid groove, its production creating space for his voice to drift across observations about money, suspicion, and the cost of being known. He cycles through a series of small declarations: background checks, gatekeeping, the transformation of old demons into homies, the weariness of being talked about. The song turns on a particular kind of exhaustion. Bladee sketches a figure caught between wanting to live and the machinery that won't let him do it quietly, someone who has learned to weaponise boredom against his own life. The chorus loops its refrain about being still around, about things moving sideways and going south, about forgetting people and haunted houses. It's a portrait of endurance without much hope attached to it, delivered with the flatness of someone who has made peace with that fact.
"Doorman" is a track by Bladee, from the album Plastic Surgery, released 21st September 2018. Full lyrics are available below.
