Burna Boy announces surprise new album dropping tomorrow
The new record follows last year's 'I Told Them' and arrives just days after celebrating the fifth anniversary of 'African Giant'.
About This Track
Burna Boy builds 'Alone' around exhaustion and isolation, the track moving through states of physical and emotional collapse. My body don't dey tire, the chorus repeats, a mantra that doubles as confession: fatigue that breeds anger, a mind scattered by the weight of survival. The song moves between English and Pidgin, between vulnerability and defiance, as Burna Boy sketches a portrait of someone screaming without being heard, betrayed by those closest to him, unable to trust anyone. What holds the track together is its restraint. The production stays minimal, letting his voice carry the emotional labour. He doesn't oversell the despair; instead he names it plainly, asking what you do when the world catches fire and there's nothing to hold onto. The bridge pivots toward something like prayer, memories as the only escape from a reality he's been quietly dying inside. It's a song about needing someone to remind you why you're still fighting, even when fighting feels impossible.
"Alone" is a track by Burna Boy, from the album Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and Inspired By, released 4th November 2022. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 8 articles about Burna Boy.
