'Red' by Cher is a track from 'Closer To the Truth (Deluxe Version)' and was released in 2013. The lyrics centre on overwhelming perception and emotional collapse, repeatedly returning to the image of everything turning “red”. Elsewhere, the song evokes panic and aftermath, with sirens in the head and warnings in the air, then moves through images of being lost at sea, surrounded by sharks, and unable to be rescued. It is a vivid, claustrophobic portrait of danger and helplessness.
