About This Track
'Delusional' finds Chris Brown examining the slow collapse of a relationship built on mismatched ambitions and unmet expectations. The song traces the particular pain of two people who once shared a bed without argument now unable to occupy the same space, each side refusing to absorb blame whilst the other retreats further into isolation. Brown's voice carries a weary resignation as he catalogs the small betrayals: the late arrivals, the social-media subtweets, the way familiarity has curdled into distance. The track builds its case through repetition and restraint. The chorus settles on a single phrase, "we was just delusional", letting it accumulate weight across multiple iterations until it reads less as excuse and more as epitaph. Brown admits his own complicity in the cycle, caught between the part of him that enabled the damage and the part that kept hoping time would fix what consistency could not. By the bridge, the song has narrowed to a simple, almost pleading request: exclusivity, commitment, an end to the circular arguments that keep pulling them back to the same dead end.
