About This Track

'4EVER' by Clairo is an alternative track from the EP 'diary 001 - EP', released in 2018. The lyrics circle a tense uncertainty about change and permanence, questioning why things have shifted and whether they will ever feel different again. A repeated return to the fear of not being able to rely on someone makes the mood distinctly anxious, with the central line worrying, “Am I gonna feel this way forever?”

"4EVER" is a single by Clairo, from the album diary 001 - EP, released 24th May 2018. The track is 2:40 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 17 articles about Clairo.

Lyrics

4EVER

Some things just aren't that simple
You called me wondering why I changed
Or why I don't look the same
Why are things so differently now?

Is it ever gonna change?
Am I gonna feel this way forever?
Are you gonna be around for me to count on? Yeah
Is it ever gonna change?
Am I gonna feel this way forever?
Are you gonna be around for me to count on, count on?
On-on-on, on-on-on-on
On-on-on, on-on-on-on
On-on-on, on-on-on-on
On-on-on, on-on-on-on

Some things just never seem to fade
I'm thinkin' 'bout how we were on our first date
You understood the words I was saying
I knew I'd never let you get away

Hold you tight, squeeze you right, tell you what I want
Put me in your bedroom and I'll sing a little song
Hold you tight, squeeze you right, give you all I've got
See you in the morning, over coffee, we'll talk, oh

Is it ever gonna change?
Am I gonna feel this way forever?
Are you gonna be around for me to count on?
Is it ever gonna change?
Am I gonna feel this way forever?
Are you gonna be around for me to count on, count on?
On-on-on, on-on-on-on
On-on-on, on-on-on-on
On-on-on, on-on-on-on
On-on-on, on-on-on-on

Clairo's night at London’s Eventim Apollo is a masterclass in how to make a sit-down show not boring

The conversation pit, an interior design feature for spacious living rooms, features sofas arranged in a U shape facing one another rather than facing technology, for the sole purpose of relaxing and chatting. They haven’t been popular since the 1970s. Tonight, Clairo turns London’s Eventim Apollo stage into one.
