About This Track

A torch song built on piano and restraint, 'Don't You Wait' finds Cloves navigating the careful distance between love and kindness. The track unfolds as a series of small mercies: she cannot stay, cannot fake her way through, and will not ask him to wait for something that will never come. The vocal sits close to the arrangement, intimate and unadorned, letting the emotional weight of the lyric do the work. The song moves through three distinct moments of reckoning. In the first, she asks him to remember what he wanted to hear. By the second, she is leaving, and by the third, she has made peace with the fact that they did not make it. The hook arrives like a refrain of acceptance: we have fallen further from our love, so do not wait. It is a song about the kindness of letting go, delivered with the clarity of someone who has already decided.
