About This Track

'Slack' by COIN is a 2024 pop song from the album 'I'm Not Afraid Of Music Anymore'. The lyrics lean into guilt and self-exculpation, with the narrator insisting they “hold all the blame” while asking to be cut some slack. There is a push-pull between reserve and confession, and the imagery keeps it domestic and messy, like bad blood that gets brushed into everyday routines. The mood is apologetic but restless, as if loosening up is less a resolution than a request for breathing room.

"Slack" is a single by COIN, from the album I'm Not Afraid Of Music Anymore, released 12th September 2024. The track is 2:49 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about COIN.

Lyrics

Slack

(Slack-lack-lack-lack)

Hello
Is it obvious?
I'm notorious for holding all the blame
You know I don't talk too much
But don't chalk it up my body of mistakes
(Cut me some)

I'll admit, yeah
Maybe there's some bad blood
Brush it in the kitchen sink
Loosen up now
Give me a little time to think, baby

Cut me some slack, kiss me like that
You don't make it easy, oh, believe me
When I'm turning my back
And you say no one's taking my place
But you don't ever need me 'til I'm leaving
Then I come right back
Cut me some slack (-lack-lack-lack)

Hello
I've been losing touch
I know half as much
And it's all that I can take
And these days, I don't fall too far
I don't crash my car
And call it all the same
(Cut me some)

I'll admit, yeah
Maybe there's some bad blood
Brush it through my crooked teeth
Loosen up now
Give me a little time to think, baby

Cut me some slack, kiss me like that
You don't make it easy, oh, believe me
When I'm turning my back
And you say no one's taking my place
But you don't ever need me 'til I'm leaving
Then I come right back

Whoa-oh-oh
Oh-whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh
Whoa-oh-oh
Oh-whoa-oh, oh-whoa-oh

Cut me some slack, kiss me like that
You don't make it easy, oh, believe me
When I'm turning my back
And you say no one's taking my place
But you don't ever need me 'til I'm leaving
Then I come right back

Cut me some slack
