About This Track

Damso adopts the voice of a hardened figure undone by love. The refrain repeats the paradox: a gangster has fallen, and the emergency services are needed. The track builds its humour and pathos from this collision between street persona and vulnerability, between the posture of indifference and the fact of surrender. The verses move between bravado and confession. Damso sketches a life of money and numbness, then admits to daydreaming, to spiralling, to the weight of substances. By the final section, the concessions pile up: he would sell drugs again for this person, would speak to the police, would abandon his habits, would claim her publicly. Each one is a small death of the old self. The song treats this softening not as weakness but as the only honest response to genuine feeling, framed against a backdrop where such admission costs something.
