About This Track
'Who Knows' opens with a disarming admission of doubt. Caesar frames himself as a probable waste of time, a likely disappointment, yet the refrain keeps the door ajar: who knows? The production, handled by Caesar and Matthew Burnett with additional work from Rex Orange County and Romil Hemnani, leaves space for the uncertainty to breathe.
The lyric turns inward at the chorus, Caesar wondering whether his self-effacement is cowardice dressed up as generosity. He calls himself an incompetent steward of power he cannot wield, the flower metaphor doing quiet work. The second verse shifts to small talk about cities and weather, intimacy attempted through logistics, before the bridge stacks up questions about sustainability and whether the object of his attention might be unattainable altogether.
Released in October 2025 from his fourth album 'Son of Spergy', the track sustains its hesitant posture all the way to the outro, where Caesar imagines marriage and burial in the same breath, love declared but futures left unresolved.
