Dave traces the journeys of successive generations of immigrants to Britain across 'Three Rivers', a reflective piece built on piano and violin by producers James Blake and Kyle Evans. The track moves through the experiences of Windrush arrivals from Jamaica, Eastern European refugees fleeing conflict, and the intergenerational toll of displacement and struggle. Each narrative carries its own weight: the promise of opportunity that became precarity, the violence left behind only to resurface in new forms, the way survival can fracture families and relationships. The song refuses easy resolution. Dave moves between celebration and lament, acknowledging the cultural vitality immigrants have brought whilst documenting the systemic rejection they have faced. A man who paid taxes for decades receives a letter declaring him an illegal immigrant; children grow up in countries that never quite accept them as citizens; trauma travels across borders and generations. The instrumental's restraint matches the gravity of these accounts, letting each voice and story breathe without melodrama.
