Davido's 'Fall', produced by Kiddominant, appeared as the second single from his second studio album 'A Good Time', released in 2019. The track builds its devotional chorus around a cascade of material blessings, money, designer goods, paparazzi attention, all framed as proof of romantic commitment. The production is sleek and minimal, leaving space for Davido's vocal to carry the song's playful sincerity.
The lyrics mix English with Nigerian Pidgin and Igbo, Davido apologising for past indiscretions whilst insisting his affection is unshakeable. The Cristiano Ronaldo refrain positions him as a reformed player, the football metaphor landing somewhere between self-deprecation and swagger. The repetition of 'are you done talking?' suggests impatience with doubt, the singer ready to move past negotiation into declaration.
Released in June 2017, 'Fall' was ranked second on Playdata charts' list of the Most Played shortly after its arrival. The song's crossover appeal rests on its directness: a love song that acknowledges the complications of public romance without dwelling on them, the hook insistent enough to lodge itself firmly in place.
"Fall" is a single by Davido, released 2nd June 2017. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Davido.
