About This Track

A relationship caught in the freeze frame of its own unravelling. DJ Snake's 'Middle' pairs the French producer's glitchy, bass-heavy EDM with British singer Bipolar Sunshine's vocal, the lyric sketching a domestic scene of cold coffee and silence. The narrator circles a familiar pattern of self-blame and wishful thinking, the chorus promising to build a new world with the partner at its centre.

Released in October 2015 as the lead single from DJ Snake's debut album 'Encore', the track layers its drop-heavy production over a lyric that toggles between introspection and apology. The verses catalogue small, frozen moments, staring at two different views from a window ledge, lying beside someone whose thoughts remain opaque, whilst the pre-chorus admits to a habit of causing problems. The outro's Mandarin refrain repeats the title's spatial metaphor, anchoring the partner in the middle of the promised reconstruction.
