Under a sulfurous firmament
And bloodthirsty, the dead soil 'neath our feet
The leaden clouds, the hundred jaws
Snatching, mewling and drooling guts

Quivering comes the welkin pale
With blood-curdling wails
Of the woebegone and broken
The bloodless cries of ghostly shades
Dinning with rage
As they loom against the horizon

Side by side they appear
Crippled and depraved
Yet still so intimate and dear
Wroth and grim
Yet still so full of fear

On the battleground, all alone
