About This Track

'Submarines' by Failure is an alternative track from the album 'Wild Type Droid' (2021). The lyrics track a bleak turn in momentum, where plans and comfort unravel into dissolution and flattening, leaving emptiness behind and a stubborn inner shape that persists in both the speaker and the listener. There is a sense of inevitability in lines such as “The stitches all dissolve”, as control slips away and the relationship to defeat becomes strangely rhythmic, even when resignation is dressed up as indifference.

"Submarines" is a track by Failure, from the album Wild Type Droid, released 3rd December 2021. The track is 3:44 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about Failure.

Lyrics

Submarines

Last year, the seeds had been sown
The stitches all dissolve
Everything was going your way
But left you flattened in the road

The shape it took inside your head
The same same shape inside of me
Empty hills, candy cane sled
You always shake just before you concede

I don't care what you say
I don't know what you want
I can't see what you see
I don't need whatever you are

A castle door on a shotgun shack
A ball of widow splashing on your back
Every fear growing wings
Every comfort taking flight

My last year was hopeless and dumb
I was so innocent before the plague
Now I feel like a brand new machine
Every thought has already been played

I don't care what you say
I don't know what you want
Can't live in submarines forever
I'm never going down
Never going down
Never going down

Submarines forever
Submarines forever
Submarines forever
I'm never going down
Never going down
Never going down

Never going down
