About This Track

Feng's 'Princess' is a portrait of desire and defiance, built on the tension between what a woman appears to be and what others think she should be. The track moves between admiration and a kind of stubborn refusal to care what anyone makes of the pairing: she acts like royalty, looks the part, and he knows she's out of his league, but he's drawn to her anyway. The production, courtesy of alexcozis, sits somewhere between trap and pop, giving the song room to breathe between the hook and the verses where Feng lays out his case. What anchors the song is a simple emotional honesty. He's not pretending she's perfect; he knows the relationship is unlikely to work. What matters is that he sees something in her that others miss, a "true colors" beneath the surface-level judgments that surround her. The song works as a small act of resistance against that shallow reading, a declaration that he'll buy the designer goods, make the time, and hold her hand regardless of what the crowd thinks or wants.
