The closing track on FKA twigs' debut EP, 'Hide' frames a breakup as an act of self-preservation. The song moves between states of concealment and confrontation, its narrator sinking into crowds and surrendering her sight if it means escape from another person's gaze. There's a logic to the evasion: space and distance become the only tools available when directness has failed. The lyrics pivot between abstract nouns (space, place, hate, now) and physical acts of disappearance, collapsing the emotional and the bodily. FKA twigs' approach here is restrained, letting silence and negative space do as much work as the words themselves. The music video extends this tension, presenting the breakup not as catharsis but as a necessary withdrawal.
