'Unity' is the fifth track on Frank Ocean's 2016 visual album 'Endless', released via Apple Music. The song features Ocean rapping over a slow, melodic beat, a departure from the sung delivery that dominates much of his catalogue. It spans nearly three minutes within the visual project's continuous structure.
The lyrics move through a series of associative reflections, touching on loyalty, authenticity, and the question of who remains present after success arrives. Ocean name-checks the Geto Boys, references Iberville housing projects, and invokes disparate images from ayahuasca to Silicon Valley ventures. The central concern, as he puts it, is 'whoever propped you up, built the structures with you', contrasting genuine support with superficial connections that emerge only after the fact.
The track's tone is both introspective and confrontational, Ocean's delivery unhurried even as the subject matter presses at questions of trust and remembrance. It's a piece that rewards close attention to its layered references, the chilled-out production allowing space for the words to settle.
"Unity" is a track by Frank Ocean, from the album Endless, released 19th August 2016. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 20 articles about Frank Ocean.
