About This Track

'Open Up' finds Gallant wrestling with the paradox of intimate exposure. The song circles around a central plea: the desire to be known fully by another person, even as that knowledge threatens to undo him. He frames vulnerability through extremes, imagining himself drowning, burning, frozen, his sanity slipping away, asking whether his partner can hold space for the full weight of his unravelling. The lyrics move between metaphors of natural extremity and emotional surrender. Gallant doesn't ask for rescue so much as witness; he wants his partner to stay present whilst he loses his footing. The chorus repeats its central question with mounting intensity, each repetition tightening the knot between desire and fear. There is anguished passion here, a vocal performance that builds toward something like catharsis, the song itself becoming the act of opening up it describes.
