About This Track

‘Hold’ by Garbage is an alternative track from the album ‘Let All That We Imagine Be The Light’, released in 2025. The lyrics set a high-stakes scene, with the world “on fire” and a plea to be held close while love and light offer a counterweight. There is also an intensely intimate, emotionally unhinged register, moving from whispered devotion to panic and disbelief, as the speaker wakes up crying and continues on, half in a dream and half unravelling.

"Hold" is a track by Garbage, from the album Let All That We Imagine Be The Light, released 29th May 2025. The track is 4:34 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 5 articles about Garbage.

Lyrics

Hold

The world's on fire, pull me closer
Hold me tight, let the light shine through us
Whisper you love me, wrap your arms around me
Take down my hair, untie my shoes, undress me

I'm goin' crazy, I'm half out of my mind
I can't believe my ears, believe my eyes
I woke up cryin', got the fright of my life
Everythin' burns until we make this right

Hope, don't fail me
Your arms around me
Faith, don't shake me
And don't desert me

Hold
Don't let me go
Just hold on tight
For our dear lives

We keep runnin', runnin', runnin'
Runnin', runnin', runnin'

You call it fear, I call it madness
The monster sleeps, it feeds on sadness
And when it wakes, it terrifies me
No one to love, no one to love me

I'm goin' crazy, I'm half out of my mind
I can't believe my ears, believe my eyes
I woke up cryin', got the fright of my life
Everythin' burns until we make this right, now

Hold
Don't let me go
Just hold on tight
For our dear lives

We keep runnin', runnin', runnin'
We keep runnin', runnin', runnin'
We keep runnin', runnin', runnin'
Runnin', runnin', runnin'

I checked the doors, I called your ma'
I checked the windows and called the law
I called the neighbors and called the cops
I called the papers, I called the dogs off
But there's the space and there's the tear
There's the hole you left here and here
Not a lot that we can do
Everything ends for you and me

Hold
Don't let me go
Just hold on tight
For our dear lives

Hold
Don't let me go
Just hold on tight
For our dear lives

We keep runnin', runnin', runnin'
We keep runnin', runnin', runnin'
We keep runnin', runnin', runnin'
Runnin', runnin', runnin'

We keep runnin', runnin', runnin', runnin'
Just runnin', runnin', runnin'
We keep runnin', runnin', runnin'
We keep runnin', runnin', runnin', hold
