Lyrics

The Light

[Verse 1]

I first saw Joe and Mary

Before the journey had just begun

Saw a light, shining bright

(Brighter than the sun)

When it started to fall on our front gate

I saw the light began to fade

Then he looked and found himself

(Before he went running)

[Chorus]

Hey, what was that long ago?

Coming out of nowhere, it's a light

Can't you see it?

[Verse 2]

When I told my friend, "Come on by today"

If the light appears, it'll take your tears away

Now you see him from day to day

(Looking for the light)

When you saw my friends, when your legs gyrate

If you see a light callin' you, you got it made

Remember, Joe an' Mary weren't afraid

(When they saw the light)

[Chorus]

Hey, what was that long ago?

Coming out of nowhere, it's a light

Can't you see it?

[Post-Chorus]

Poor times again

Every time I love

Even though I know

Only your heart seems clear in the light

Lost in a world of hate and gloom

[Bridge]

There am I, like a bird

Calling you like a butterfly

All around the people will stare

Stare, stare, stare, na-na-na-ne-ne-ne-ne-ne

[Verse 3]

I told my friends, "Come on by today"

If the light appears, it'll take your tears away

Now you see him from day to day

(Looking for the light)

[Chorus]

Hey, what was that long ago?

Coming out of nowhere, it's a light

Can't you see it?

[Bridge]

Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh

Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ah-ah-ahh-ahh

Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh

Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh

Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh

Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh

[Verse 4]

When you saw my friends, when your legs gyrate

If you see a light callin' you, you got it made

Remember, Joe an' Mary weren't afraid

When they saw the light

[Outro]

Like a bird

Calling you like a butterfly

All around the people will stare

Stare, stare

How a country estate became Knebworth’s concert institution

Successive generations of headliners made Knebworth famous. Its history also turns on giant screens, repeat bookings and the less glamorous business of clearing up between shows.
