About This Track

'perfect' by glaive is a 2021 track in which the speaker pleads for someone to treat them with a specific kind of attention, even as the relationship feels unstable and dismissive. The verses press that sense of being a burden, then the chorus lands in resignation, with lines such as “I guess this is it” bookending uncertainty. The imagery turns bluntly physical, likening emotional impact to something like a boxer's fist, so the song’s tone swings between self-deprecation and hurt acceptance.

"perfect" is a track by glaive, released 30th March 2021. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 6 articles about glaive.

Lyrics

perfect

[Verse 1]

Treat me like I'm wastin' your time

Treat me like I'm fuckin' up your life

Treat me like I'm alright this one time

Treat me like I'm on your mind this one time

[Chorus]

I guess this is it

I never gave a shit in the first place

I guess I'm hit or miss

Like a boxer's fist on his worst day

I guess the kids can reminisce

Because then like no one can hurt me

And it's hard to think we're over it

When they'rе all so fucking perfect

[Verse 2]

And I, I, I didn't know

So I try to leavе it alone

But oh-oh-oh, I'll never go

'Til I, 'til I, 'til I find my hope

Bloodshot eyes the last two nights

From the times you cried, the times I lied

And it was better before

We both know for that sure

And I've been tryin' and tryin'

To keep my feet on the flo-o-or

[Chorus]

I guess this is it

I never gave a shit in the first place

I guess I'm hit or miss

Like a boxer's fist on his worst day

I guess the kids can reminisce

Because then like no one can hurt me

And it's hard to think we're over it

When they're all so fucking perfect
