About This Track

H.E.R. navigates the messy territory between commitment and ambivalence on 'Changes'. The track finds her caught between frustration with romantic games and a genuine desire for stability, caught between options and the realisation that what she actually wants is singular and uncomplicated. There's a tension here between self-awareness and vulnerability; she questions whether she's the one to blame for the cycle, yet the refrain cuts through doubt with clarity: all she wants is him. The song builds its case through repetition and directness. H.E.R. moves from exhaustion with the familiar patterns of modern romance to a simple, almost pleading declaration, the chorus anchored by that insistent refrain. She's explicit about refusing to be treated like anyone else, about wanting someone present rather than someone who keeps her guessing. It's a track about choosing, finally, after running through the alternatives.

"Changes" is a track by H.E.R., from the album H.E.R., Vol. 2 - EP, released 15th June 2017. The track is 3:34 long. It's filed under R&B/Soul. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 3 articles about H.E.R..

Lyrics

Changes

Lately, I been going through some changes
Been running out of maybes
Boy I know you're losing patience
Losing patience
Losing patience with me

Sometimes I get fed up with all the games
Sometimes you all just act the same
Maybe I'm the one to blame
That's just how the game goes
When you're feeling alone
Everybody got somebody that they mess with on the low
Now I just want you to save me
I just want you to save me, Ohhhh

We got options
But I just wanna let you know that I decided
I finally realized that
All I want is you
You, you, you
You, you, ooo
All I want is you
You, you, you
You, you, ooo

I ain't like all them other girls
You can't treat me like them other girls no more
(No mooore)
You see me like another girl
I've been waiting for you to make a move
(Ohhh, oh, oh)

You know that I'm fed up with all the games
You all just act the same
Maybe I'm the one to blame
That's just how the game goes
Just want someone to hold
Everybody needs somebody to be there when they're alone
I just want you to save me (yea)
Just want you to save me

We got options
But I just wanna let you know that I decided
I finally realized that
All I want is you
You, you, you
You, you, ooo
All I want is you
You, you, you
You, you, ooo
