About This Track

‘Morality Test’ by High Vis is a 2022 indie rock song from the album ‘Blending’. The lyrics sound like a bleak, judgemental reckoning, with vows of living without medicine and prayer, then a sense of looping avoidance, ending on the grim line, “It’s simpler to stay dead”. The writing circles the idea that moral postures can turn into inertia, urging the listener to choose between waiting it out and breaking open.

"Morality Test" is a track by High Vis, from the album Blending, released 29th September 2022. The track is 3:52 long. It's filed under Indie Rock. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about High Vis.

Lyrics

Morality Test

Live a life without medicine
And say a prayer for every living thing
You can hear the refrain and you can bury your head again

Live a life just steeplechasing
Waiting for your world to detonate
You can wait your turn or you can spill your guts again
It's simpler to stay dead

A burial for the living
I'm just scared of ever giving in
With all my teeth I'll bite my tongue again

No space for a conversation
Always gagged and hesitating
Hands behind my back
No one wins again

And our competitive morality
Will be the end of you and me
You can never hide your past convincingly

So take me back again and make it hurt
Rеpeat and then repеnt
Reflect the worst

I've seen the glass houses you're living in
And I've come here to smash your windows in
Where do the bodies pile up
What do you do with them

And our competitive morality
Will be the end of you and me
You can never hide your past convincingly

Never hide your past convincingly
