About This Track

'Redemption' by Hurts is a 2020 pop track from the album 'Faith'. The lyrics cast a troubled speaker in prayer, caught between despair and a stubborn inner fire, asking for mercy and help, and confessing a long history of wrongdoing. One line reduces that plea to “Father, help me, do you understand?”. The mood is penitential, with the language of distance from God and the desire to be healed from a deep-seated sickness.

"Redemption" is a single by Hurts, from the album Faith, released 3rd September 2020. The track is 4:18 long. It's filed under Pop. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about Hurts.

Lyrics

Redemption

I've never felt this far from God
I almost feel like giving up again
In my bones, in my blood
There's a sickness I'd change if I could
But the fire that rages inside me
Erased all the good

Father, help me, do you understand?
All my life, I've been a wicked man
Show me mercy and comfort me
I need to find redemption
(I'm just trying to find some)
Redemption
(I'm just trying to find some)
Redemption

I've never been this far from peace
I'm disappearing out of reach again
In my head, in my heart
There's a hollow that's starting to show
It's the poison that fills up the void
And it's taking a hold

Father, help me, do you understand?
All my life, I've been a wicked man
Show me mercy and comfort me
I need to find redemption
(I'm just trying to find some)
Redemption
(I'm just trying to find some)
Redemption

Redemption

(I'm just trying to find some)
(I'm just trying to find some)
(I'm just trying to find some)
(I'm just trying to find some)

This may not be the album that kicks in new doors, but it’s a welcome start.
