About This Track

A duet with his sister Willow, 'PCH' takes its name from the Pacific Coast Highway, the California route that stretches down the near-perfect coastline. Jaden adopts a drowsy, detached tone in the verses, narrating a late-night drive with a sleeping passenger who spent the previous hours drinking, whilst Willow's refrain opens the frame to include the wider carload of restless youth. The repetition is hypnotic, the mood closer to drift than celebration. Willow's pre-chorus and bridge shift the temperature slightly, offering reassurance and a kind of open invitation to vulnerability under a full moon. The track appeared on Jaden's 2014 mixtape 'CTV2', a sequel to his atmospheric debut 'The Cool Cafe: Cool Tape, Vol. 1', which had drawn on Kid Cudi and Purity Ring as touchstones. The song suits its subject: music built for the long stretches of tarmac and ocean light that inspired it.

"PCH" is a track by Jaden, from the album CTV2, released 18th November 2014. Full lyrics are available below.

Lyrics

PCH

[Chorus: Jaden Smith]

Man, I'm PCH cruising

My girl, she snoozing

She was all night boozing

No love, here to be losing

I don't care who's in the car 'cause really

We just PCH cruising

My girl snoozing

She was all night boozing

No love, here to be losing

I don't care who's in the car 'cause really

We just PCH cruising

[Refrain: Willow Smith]

We just PCH, PCH, PCH, PCH driving

We're the crazy kids, rebel kids, saddened kids, wild kids, lonely kids

[Pre-Chorus: Willow Smith]

Gimme all your kisses, baby, 'cause this is bliss

Gimme all your kisses, baby

Gimme all your kisses, baby, 'cause this is bliss

Gimme all your kisses, baby

Gimme all your kisses, baby, 'cause this is bliss

Gimme all your kisses, baby

Gimme all your kisses, baby, 'cause this is bliss

Gimme all your kisses, baby

[Chorus: Jaden Smith]

Man, I'm PCH cruising

My girl, she snoozing

She was all night boozing

No love, here to be losing

I don't care who's in the car 'cause really

We just PCH cruising

My girl snoozing

We just PCH cruising

[Verse 1: Willow Smith]

You can come and cry if you come through

You can hug the sky if you want to

You can come and cry if you come through

You can hug the sky if you want to

'Cause you're beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful

And the moon is full, moon is full, moon is full, moon is full

[Refrain: Willow Smith]

We just PCH, PCH, PCH, PCH driving

We're the crazy kids, rebel kids, saddened kids, wild kids, lonely kids

[Pre-Chorus: Willow Smith]

Gimme all your kisses, baby, 'cause this is bliss

Gimme all your kisses, baby

Gimme all your kisses, baby, 'cause this is bliss

Gimme all your kisses, baby

Gimme all your kisses, baby, 'cause this is bliss

[Verse 2: Jaden Smith]

Baby, you can be my catfish (Jaden)

I never see you I just text you on the phone

And you look just like that actress

What's her name?

I'm afraid that, if I see you, I'ma freakin' suffocate

Or do a backflip

Yeah, I'm knocking at your door

But I died so they put me in a casket

People say, "Jay you're just over-reacting"

But you're like the girl that I never had

You're my catfish

I never see you I just text you on the phone

And you look just like that actress

What's her name?

I'm afraid that, if I see you, I'ma freakin' suffocate

Or do a backflip

Yeah, I'm knocking at your door

But I died so they put me in a casket

People say, "Jay, you're just over-reacting"

But you're like the girl that I never had

You're my catfish
