[Sample: Jorge Ben Jor]
A semana acaba num dom—
[Verse: Jay Electronica]
The long road to one's own destiny ain't paved
This treacherous path through the wilderness is only for the brave
Sometimes you'll seem like a madman, shot out of a cave
All everybody else see is death, all I see is the parade
The soul that gave birth to my grandmother was a slave
So I refuse to walk on by crying like Isaac Hayes
For every day I missed Salah, I intensify zakat
Told the truth from the Pyramid top like Anwar Sadat
Ashes to ashes, I took my time like molasses
With these civilization clashes I dish out to the masses
I'm like a miniature Jesus of Nazareth
Slugged up with my Solja Rag in my Reebok Classics
If they ask what's my sign, falling rocks ahead, hazardous
The edge of my fort is dern and my sheath is the jaggedest
I'm exorcising all demons, internal, external
I got it out the mud, now I'm climbing out the inferno
My flesh, bone, and dark matter may pass away
But every bar I spit in the name of the Christ will remain eternal
You couldn't walk a mile in my ruby slippers from God
Or even replicate one ink drop from my Holy Journal
[Outro: Dr. Wesley Muhammed PhD & Jay Electronica]
Can you, can you– what do, what-what do you mean when you say the God of religion?
As– is that as opposed to 'the God of' something else?
Or what do– what do you mean when you say 'the God of religion'?
Why do you use such a qualifier, because you could just say God
And people understand what you mean when you say God
But why do you say 'God of Religion'?
Yeah, thank you, I did use that language
Language deliberately in contrasting it with another God in particular
The God of philosophy (Mm, mm)
That in my book, um, 'The Book of God: An Encyclopedia of Proof that the Black Man is God'
There's a contrast between the God of religion, which is the God found in all of the scriptures
Not just in my scriptures, not just the religious scriptures of
The Bible and the Quran, but also the scriptures
Of the hieroglyphic, of Medu Neter scriptures of Ancient Egypt, the Sumerian
Religious theological writings of scriptures, of ancient Mesopotamia
The God religious texts, ancient religious texts are in agreement about the reality and nature of God
And so I use the language "God of religion" to refer to the God as gleaned from ancient religious texts
