About This Track

'Emoceans' by kenzie is a track from the album 'Phases' (2018). The lyrics find the singer stuck in bed with a head ache, overthinking what others might say, and resenting a social game where everyone has a price. In the chorus, “emoceans” arrive as rolling, oceanlike pressure that tries to bring them down as things get crazy, even as they suggest they know what is happening to them. The song’s emotional centre is anxious, self-protective, and defensive, with the repeated image turning internal turmoil into something tidal.

"Emoceans" is a track by kenzie, from the album Phases, released 20th November 2018. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about kenzie.

Lyrics

Emoceans

[Verse 1]

Layin' in my bed, my head aches

Thinkin’ too much what people gon' say

They all got a price, a price I gotta pay

They all got a game, but I don't wanna play

[Chorus]

When I got all these emoceans, rollin’ like oceans

Tryin' to bring me down

When it gets crazy

I know that maybe I get a little freaked out, yeah

Don't care what they say, 'cause it's only noise

Yeah, I know I got a choice

When I got all these emoceans, rollin' like oceans

Tryin' to bring me down

[Post-Chorus]

But I won't drown

But I won’t drown

Oh, oh, oh, emoceans

Oh, oh, oh

[Verse 2]

Reassurance, I could use a little

When I’m on my own, don't meet me in the middle

But it’s in my hands, I gotta stay swimmin'

Keep my head up like I'm still winnin'

[Chorus]

When I got all these emoceans, rollin’ like oceans

Tryin' to bring me down

When it gets crazy

I know that maybe I get a little freaked out, yeah

Don't care what they say, 'cause it's only noise

Yeah, I know I got a choice

When I got all these emoceans, rollin' like oceans

Tryin' to bring me down

[Post-Chorus]

But I won't drown

But I won't drown

Oh, oh, oh, emoceans

Oh, oh, oh, but I won't drown

[Bridge]

Yeah, I cry sometimes

Lose my mind sometimes

I've been lost and found

But I won't drown

Walkin' on the sea

Found the fight in me

Tryin' to bring me down

But I won't drown, no I won't drown, yeah

(All these emoceans, rollin' like oceans, tryin' to bring me down)

[Outro]

But I won't drown, no (I got all these emoceans, yeah)

But I won't drown

Oh, oh, oh, emoceans

Oh, oh, oh, emoceans
