summertime

I've got my eye on you
I think maybe you like me too
So let's go somewhere more secluded
I hope I don't seem convoluted
My bad, I only pause to stare
But you're not going anywhere but near me

Now we're stuck entertaining
How long that it's been taking me
To notice you've been chasing me
But babe, I realized it first
Have you considered that you complement me?
Your hands look good around my sweater

But I've been on guard
'Cause if I fall hard for you
You might be surprised
But you can't help what you're drawn to
You've learned to console me when I feel incorrect
But we should point out
We're acting like more than friends

We don't have summertime for losing
I should be on your backstreet cruising
So deep into the fall, I won't get lonely looking back on us
If you just let me have this moment
I'll show you what it means to find a sweetheart
If you need me, I'll be with you in an instant

Let's go do something fun, I plead
Word gets around, I'm easy to read
But to you, I'm still Ms. Unpredictable
Your thoughts are boutta overflow, so let 'em
While I tap my fingers on my denim
We're so young, but that just means tonight is for exploring

And I've been on guard
'Cause when I fall hard for you
We might be apart
But I can't help it, I've got to
I'll follow your lead
But let's not go rushing in
Let's go day by day
And we can start with this weekend

We don't have summertime for losing
I should be on your backstreet cruising
So deep into the fall, I won't get lonely looking back on us
If you just let me have this moment
I'll show you what it means to find a sweetheart
If you need me, I'll be with you in an instant
(In an instant, baby)
