About This Track

‘Same Mistakes’ by LAUREL is an alternative track from the album ‘DOGVIOLET’, released in 2018. The lyrics circle around strained attempts at pleasing someone, a sense of misread attention, and the frustration of wanting to leave while still getting pulled in. A recurring, clipped “oh wait” keeps the mood suspended between retreat and hesitation, as the narrator observes a partner who seems to latch on before trying to go. It is a restless, conversational piece, built around the back-and-forth momentum of a relationship that keeps repeating itself.

"Same Mistakes" is a track by LAUREL, from the album DOGVIOLET, released 23rd August 2018. The track is 4:26 long. It's filed under Alternative. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 2 articles about LAUREL.

Lyrics

Same Mistakes

I know that it ain't easy, but I guess you tried to please me
Am I getting your attention with the opposite of affection?
Oh, oh

And I guess I wanna leave, oh wait
Patience, you said, "oh wait"
I found you latching on
And I guess you wanna leave
Oh wait, stationary, oh wait
I guess I'm latching on

I don't want you
But I still want you to love me
You said "I don't want you
But I still want you to love me"

And I lay awake
Making the same mistake
Thinking of you
Thinking of her touching you, oooh

And I guess we're back to talking
But it's never been a walk in the park
And I noticed you've been jealous
But I think it's just a present for parting ways

And I guess I wanna leave, oh wait
Patience, you said, "oh wait"
You found me moving on
And I guess you wanna leave
Oh wait, stationary, oh wait
I guess we're moving on

I don't want you
But I still want you to love me
You said "I don't want you
But I still want you to love me"

And I lay awake
Making the same mistake
Thinking of you
Thinking of her touching you, oooh
And you'll lay awake
Making the same mistake
Thinking of me
Go think of him touching me, oooh

I weigh you down on the sea
Here you come, are you coming for me?
Screaming how could you move on?
When you're still bad in love with me
And I don't wanna play it anymore
I don't wanna say it anymore
I don't wanna think anymore of her loving with you
I don't wanna think anymore of her loving with you
I don't wanna think anymore of her loving with you
I don't wanna think anymore of her loving with you

But I lay awake
Making the same mistake
Thinking of you
Thinking of her touching you, oooh
And you'll lay awake
Making the same mistake
Thinking of me
Go think of him touching me, oooh
