About This Track

Lil Uzi Vert moves through 'Target' with the ease of someone who has already arrived. The track, produced by Wheezy, finds him cycling through the familiar markers of success: new trainers, diamonds, luxury cars, the casual dismissal of those who don't measure up. The chorus settles into a refrain about money and survival, memory of hunger sharpened against present abundance. He compares himself to a basketball player in his prime, all rhythm and precision. The verses pile on detail without strain. He speaks in shorthand, each line a small flex or a small slight, moving between boasts about his jewellery and his indifference to those outside his circle. There's a lightness to it, a confidence that doesn't need to shout. The production sits low and steady beneath him, letting the voice do the work.

"Target" is a track by Lil Uzi Vert, released 9th November 2017. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Lil Uzi Vert.

Target

[Intro]

Wheezy Beats

[Chorus]

Damn, no key just to start it

Now I'm gettin money, I 'member I just was starvin' (Okay, okay)

Walkin' in this water like the sea, watch how I part it (Okay, okay)

I got somethin' for you, please don't run up on me (Yeah, yeah)

Got my pocket rocket, I feel like I'm Harden

I'm so used to ballin', you need to award this

Your lil' bitch keep callin', Lil Uzi keep stallin' (Yeah, yeah)

That lil' bitch so garbage, that is not a target

[Verse 1]

New Balenciagas, then I do my step (Do my, what?)

Brush them haters off, then I gotta flex (Ayy, ayy, yeah, uh)

All my diamonds set, drive Lamb' like a 'Vette (Okay, skrrt)

Talkin' outside of your neck, if it ain't 'bout a check (Zoom)

And if you ain't givin' no neck, then I gotta hit next (Get out)

You ain't gon' never hear my voice I talk through text (Huh)

Think you know everything, you talk too much, wish you'd talk less (Huh)

Diamonds in my Carti', not a stalkin' man (What? Ooh)

Pull up in my whip, I'm not a walkin' man (Vroom)

Yeah, them bitches, they played him

Tell them that I'm comin', but I leave all 'em hoes waitin' (Yeah)

On her knees, that Voorhees, treat her like I'm Jason

[Verse 2]

17, 5 whip it too much (Yeah)

Bitch I got high right off 2 cups (Damn)

Put a .30 shot in my Ruger (Bah)

No, I do not need a shooter (No)

Nowadays I am my own shooter (Ayy)

Look at that, woah, yeah, wrist froze (Huh)

Bad bitch, ass fat, pigeon toe (Ayy)

Love VLone, love Garçon, switchin' clothes (Okay)

Young nigga flexin', poppin', Christmas cold (Drippin')

Nowhere left to put these diamonds but my toes

But I'm not gon' do that, give it to my bros (Ooh)

I ain't forget, bitch, you was hatin' on the low (Sorry)
