About This Track
Lil Wayne and Gudda Gudda trade verses over a track built on boasts and threats, the pair cycling through declarations of wealth, sexual conquest, and casual violence with the kind of mechanical repetition that turns braggadocio into its own kind of rhythm. Gudda Gudda opens with the standard inventory: designer labels, women, money stacked in accounts. Wayne follows with something darker and more baroque, layering threat upon threat until the specificity collapses into abstraction. The song moves at a swagger, but there's little variation in tone or target. Both rappers adopt the voice of men for whom consequence is theoretical, and the lyrics rarely pause for anything resembling reflection. Wayne's closing admission that he's "in my own zone; I got me throwed off" suggests a distance from the material, a kind of detachment that might be read as self-aware or might simply be the sound of a rapper running through the motions of a style he helped invent.
"Throwed" is a track by Lil Wayne, from the album Sorry 4 the Wait, released 13th July 2011. Full lyrics are available below. Dork has published 1 article about Lil Wayne.
